Empowering Students and Families to Find Balance in a Digital World
Candlewood Lake Elementary School
Grant champion: Dee Pearson

The Brookfield Education Foundation has awarded Dee Pearson of Candlewood Lake Elementary School a grant in the amount of $2700 to support innovative programming related to the adverse effects of overuse of screen time. This grant will allow us to bring new programming to CLES and the broader Brookfield community based upon the Screenagers documentary series. The program includes a combination of viewings of 3 different documentaries, moderated discussions for school-aged children as well as for adults/families, additional curricular support, and community engagement.

The 3 documentaries include the following:
Screenagers: Elementary School Age Edition
Screenagers the Next Chapter: Youth Mental Health in the Digital Age
Screenagers Under the Influence: Vaping, Drugs & Alcohol in the Digital Age*
*Not to be used at CLES

This program complements efforts throughout the Brookfield Public School System to ensure healthy use of technology and mitigate potential adverse consequences.
