The BEF funded a pivotal aspect of the newly established French American Exchange program, allowing forty-two Brookfield 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students, along with five chaperones, to embark on an enriching journey to France. This trip included a transformative two-day, one-night educational tour of Paris, providing students with an immersive experience in French culture and history.

During their stay in Paris, students explored iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Musée d’Orsay, and the Louvre. They will gain insights into French art and architecture from the 19th and 20th centuries, and visit the Statue of Liberty on Île aux Cygnes, symbolizing Franco-American friendship. A scenic cruise along the Seine River, with commentary in French, Spanish, and English, will further enhance their understanding of Parisian heritage.

The BEF grant not only facilitates these guided tours but also equips students with the resources to document their experiences. Upon returning to Brookfield, these students will share their learnings with WMS and BHS language and art classes, covering topics such as French art, architecture, historical events, and cultural differences. This enriching experience has already led to a doubling of enrollment in the WMS French program, highlighting the lasting impact of the BEF’s support in fostering cultural appreciation and educational growth.
